The Association of Reciprocal Safety Councils is pleased to announce Greg W. Cook, PhD, CSP, Navy Captain (Ret.), as its incoming President. Dr. Cook brings more than 25 years of distinguished leadership in safety, environmental health, and risk mitigation across industrial, maritime, transportation, and government sectors.
A respected leader within the ARSC safety council network, Dr. Cook currently serves as Executive Director of the Mid Atlantic Safety Council, where he oversees the development and delivery of safety training programs supporting more than 150 contractor companies and 50+ manufacturing and production sites across the Southeast and beyond. His work focuses on high-hazard environments, including hazardous materials transportation, fuel and compressed gas handling, emergency response, and regulatory compliance.
Throughout his career, Dr. Cook has demonstrated a unique ability to translate complex regulatory and operational requirements into practical, effective training—delivered both in-person and online—ensuring workers are not only compliant, but confident and prepared.
Before joining the Mid Atlantic Safety Council, Dr. Cook held senior leadership roles at Grainger, advising regional executives and leading safety professionals across manufacturing, commercial, government, and healthcare sectors. His earlier service as Director of Safety & Occupational Health for the U.S. Pacific Fleet placed him at the helm of safety oversight for more than 125,000 personnel operating in maritime, aviation, and logistics-intensive environments worldwide.
As Chief Executive Officer of the Naval Safety & Environmental Training Center, Dr. Cook directed global hazardous materials and fuel systems training for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, delivering more than 500 classes annually across 75 locations. His leadership strengthened operational readiness while advancing a culture of safety in some of the most demanding conditions imaginable.
Dr. Cook holds a PhD in Environmental Health Science and has served as an assistant professor and curriculum developer at leading institutions, contributing to research and education in industrial hygiene, chemical hazard detection, and emergency response.
As ARSC continues to advance reciprocal safety training nationwide, Dr. Cook’s blend of operational expertise, instructional leadership, and collaborative mindset positions him to lead the association into its next chapter—strengthening partnerships, upholding quality and integrity, and ensuring every worker returns home safely.
